Posted: May 16th, 2012 | No Comments »

There are new construction jobs currently available in Australia and more are likely to be created through the country’s new wave energy development once the project is secured for government funding.

The federal government of Australia has decided to provide AUS $9.9 million to help start the energy company Carnegie to start building AUS $31.2 million facility on and around the Garden Island that lies 5km off of the WA coast.

It is proposed that construction work will start next year on this wave scheme and is expected to begin generating electricity by the end of 2013 and to have a two-megawatt capacity by 2014, with a view to this successive expansion to 5 megawatts.

According to Carnegie’s chief executive officer, Dr. Michael Ottaviano, he said that the Australian government’s support will let Carnegie deliver its very first revenue generating wave project in its own backyard in Western Australia. Once it is completed, it will open a huge opportunity in the global market, which would lead to more jobs in Western Australia.

The installation of the 150 photovoltaic (PV) panels began just last month there at the 80-hectare Greenough River Solar farm located in Western Australia and that is believed to be the largest PV project in the country.
