Australia spends 38 million dollars for immigration system improvements

Because of the recent high demand for workers, Australian Immigration Minister Chris Bowen and Parliamentary Secretary for Immigration and Multicultural Affairs  Senator Kate Lundy announced that the government is willing to shell out as much as $38.5 million in the next financial year in order to improve the condition of migrants and help them settle in their new communities. The announcement was made due to the fact that several Australian states are having a hard time supplying the high demand for local workers within the different job sectors of the country. A total of 179 new projects were delivered to 148 organizations which would be funded under the Government’s Settlement Grant Program or SGP from July 1, 2011. The program was created in the hopes of helping new Australian immigrants to become self-reliant and to help their new country by providing the skills needed to boost the Australian economy. Land Sales Going Up; WA faces housing problems

Western Australia’s economic success have caused a few problems for the state and recently, a new problem surfaced amidst WA’s recent oil discovery. Residential land sales have triggered a new headache as the Housing Industry Association recent Residential Land Sales report shows that Western Australia only has 23.5 % of remaining residential land. Despite the reversed decline of lot sales in Perth for the last quarter of June, WA is struggling to provide good residential homes for its increasing migrant population. Within the last six months, residential lot sales in Perth have gone down to 32% while the median residential land value was $235,000, which was 2.2% down within a span of 12 months ago. Australian citizens, both local and immigrants in Australia, are hopeful that the new Wheatstone Project in Western Australia should help the country’s dwindling economy. The company has announced investing around $29 billion.  This will greatly boost Western Australia’s economy and even the rest of the states in Australia.  In addition, a total of 6500 workers are needed in order for the Wheatstone Project to work efficiently, thus giving more jobs to the unemployed work force in WA. The Wheatstone Liquified natural gas project is located within the Pilbara Coast of Onslow and has already been approved, therefore, it will only be a matter of time before the project officially starts.
