Western Australia’s economic boom enough to bring Australia back to its feet

“The rest of the country’s economy can now pack up and go home.”

This is the headlines coming from the Deloitte Access Economics business outlook as mega-projects come knocking at Western Australia’s doors. WA’s unbelievable resources boom could now single-handedly boost Australia’s growth for the years to come. This is because China, Western Australia’s best customer when it comes to natural gas and resources,  is growing stronger in terms of economy, overshadowing the United States and Europe.  The projects coming from Western Australia is simply staggering and the energetic drive coming from foreign clients is driving WA’s economy through the roof!

Indeed, Western Australia’s growth is so overwhelming that the local government is asking for more support from the national government.  Western Australia Treasurer Christian Porter commented on giving more funds for the development of WA’s mining industry. “In order to make sure that our mining and resources sector are at full capacity and that these industries continue to empower our nation’s economy , they will need billions of dollars of investments in railroads, roads, and electricity infrastructure.” Porter said  after receiving the report from the Deloitte Access Economics. He pointed out that unless the government is willing to help in bringing WA’s infrastructure in order to help the resources and the Australian mining sector, then the boost could be short lived and billions of projects would be wasted.

According to Deloitte the economic boost came from a Wheatstone and Gorgon projects.  The two gigantic LNG projects backed up by US oil and gas giant Chevron gave the much needed push in boosting Western Australia’s economic success.  Additionally, the $29 billion Wheatstone project was recently approved last month and it also contributed to WA’s “weird” economic success.

However, there is still a major concern with the employee shortages, as the recent economic boom have made it possible to experience problems due to the lack of workers for most Australian mining and resources companies. There’s a lot of demand for skilled workers in Western Australia in order to keep these projects ongoing for a long time.
